Winter on the East Coast of America does not end so much as wear on. It arrives in November and is still lingering at the edges of April, grey on grey, the light thin and early to leave.

Shorter Winter was founded by someone who grew up in the subtropics, among banyan shade, monsoon rain and a sun that never really went away, and who has spent many winters here without ever quite getting used to them.

We could not make the season shorter. So we made the coat that makes it feel that way: the finest cashmere and wool we could find, cut cleanly and quietly, in colours borrowed from warmer places. Camel like late-afternoon sand. Brown like wet earth after a summer storm. The red of a hibiscus, the green of a palm leaf, the pale blue of shallow water.

A coat you reach for every morning, and that, for a moment, takes you somewhere else. A shorter winter, and a lighter heart.
